I remember meeting a guy who had a car like this. Sad looking fellow. Into lost causes in general: Pottery, the Minnesota Twins, and Capitalism, stuff like that.
He believed that having a safe, reliable, hipster car was worth the pains in the ass that came with said same car. Kinda like having a really hot boyfriend or girlfriend.
I can tell you that as of 2003, this car has new struts and shocks, new tires. I can tell you it has a funny thermometer thing that makes it look like the car always runs hot. I can tell you that the "bulb out" warning light comes on everytime you hit the brakes, even though there's no bulb out. I can tell you that one flawed spark plug installation may or may have stripped the threads in the engine block.
If this thing is still running and selling at 500 bucks or less and you can tolerate a multitude of little flaws and you never need to drive past Burnsville, Little Switzerland or Glen Ayre, this would be the ultimate studio beater.
