Here is a follow-up to the feldspar chips post from some time ago. I put them into the side of a teabowl made with Hestia and then bisque fired it. Then glazed with Baymore Shino.
Riding my bike the other day and came upon an idea and thought you would be the perfect person to ask. As a former oil painter, I love working "into the wet" - perhaps why i like working with leather hard clay and slip. But wondered what would happen if glaze was mixed with wax - would it stay wettish if applied? Could be put on with palette knife? What might happen to the wax? Thanks if you get the chance...
Try some stuff. You would just spritz it with water and it would get wet and be smooshable. or you could add cmc gum to keep it wet a bit. Many things, starch, give'er a try!

Nice surface... Love the shino you used, I thought the feldspar would ooze out onto the surface more though forming a teardrop effect.
ReplyDeleteThe feldspar is pretty chunky so it doesn't melt really well.
