The Department of Art at Appalachian State University invites applications for an Artist, Art Historian or Art Educator who is committed to undergraduate general education in the visual arts. Lecturer, nine-month, renewable contract, MFA or PhD required. University teaching beyond TA preferred.
The Art Department seeks applicants who demonstrate a passion for teaching in ways that are experiential and relevant to non-majors, possesses knowledge of contemporary and historical artworks and practices in art, and has experience with and commitment to teaching introductory general education courses. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Visual Art and courses such as Art History Surveys, Art for Social Change and Cultivating Creativity Through Art. Teaching will consist of a 4/4 load with a minimum of 2 Gen Ed courses per semester. Possibilities for teaching in applicant's area of expertise are available. Involvement in service responsibilities, including student advising, is expected.
