McFarling Glaze Test

So far we have 12 people signed up for the glaze test firing in Linda McFarling's Soda Kiln in November.

I image we could each make about a shelf or two of work (12" x 24") and glaze it in our own glazes and take them over to Linda's for the firing. If we all make bowls then we can donate them to John Hartom's Empty Bowls Project when we are done.

You just have to share your recipes.

Let me know it anyone has any suggestions or if I left out anything. We can talk more about it at the September Clay Club Meeting,

  1. I think it should be said that this is a soda firing, no? Let your clay shine, try slips, wax resist, and glaze.

I like the idea of bowls for EB. But keep in mind that soda has a hard time getting inside bowls, especially if they are deep.

  2. Dude,

Don't rain on the parade planning! Wait until the parade.

Glazes will be the bomb in this firing!
