The River Arts District consists of galleries, working artist studios, businesses, a brewery, restaurants, a music venue, performing arts venues, and more.
A jewel in the crown of Asheville is how Mayor Terry Bellamy describes the River Arts District. This unique neighborhood along the French Broad River is home to more than 165 artists with working studios located in 18 turn-of-the-century industrial buildings. RADA is currently looking to hire a Coordinator.
The Coordinator position requires some training in public, business, and arts administration. Skills related to marketing, public relations, arts related community outreach, and organizational discipline are essential components of this position. The Coordinator is the administrative and operations position and will be responsible for planning, as well as active management of the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Coordinator reports to the President and works in partnership with the Board of Directors to support the mission of RADA.
Coordinator duties include:
1. Attend RADA committee meetings and report to the President on activities, programs, and issues.
2. Coordinate and direct all activities related to Studio Stroll and Second Saturdays.
3. Organize RADA committees and volunteers to implement and manage events, programs, and activities.
4. Assist in the development of plans, programs, events and activities.
5. Provide guidance and technical assistance to members and organizations.
6. Organize and provide notices and announcements.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience in nonprofit management, with preference given to arts management, or equivalent educational experience.
2. Leadership skills.
3. Knowledge of and interest in the arts.
4. High level of written & verbal communication skills.
5. Ability to work with diverse cultural communities and underserved constituencies.
6. Management of budgets.
7. Advanced Computer skills: Google Docs, Microsoft Office including word processing, spreadsheet, database, PowerPoint, email, Calendar, website updates, and use of social media.
8. Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed to support events.
Hours, Salary, and Start Date:
Part-Time Position (with potential to be full-time): 20 hrs/wk, Salary/Hourly: $15.00/hr. Immediate start preferred.
