Meet the Maker: Susan Hagen

UNC Asheville's Craft Studies Initiative presents
Meet the Maker: Susan Hagen, Tuesday, March 16, 6:30pm
Highsmith Union room 104; free and open to the public.

Sculptor Susan Hagen finds her subject matter in everyday life, in particular, through her direct experience. This could be an experience tied to a place like the Eastern State Penitentiary or an urban landscape in Philadelphia. She depicts these places, people and emotions through small, but powerful, carvings in wood. It is truly amazing how Susan manages to harness the energies associated with these people and places in such a small amount of material.

Please come hear Susan speak on how she incorporates her interests in art history, animal behavior (including teenagers), psychology, alchemy, mythology and religion into her work.
