Pollen from my bees

Here is some local pollen I got from my bees yesterday. I am not the best at this ...but it might be Daisy, Blackberry,  etc.

Very cool though!

Gerstley Borate at Laguna

Here is an ad in Ceramics Technical showing that Laguna Clay has over 900 tons of Gerstley Borate.

Seems like it will last a few years more!

Almost a new sign

I had some extra spray paint so I decided to spray the flashing on the back of the lettering of my sign.  Like new!

Crusty Parmesan Herb Zucchini

For a quick but delicious Hors d'oeuvre:

Crusty Parmesan Herb Zucchini

4 medium zucchini sliced in half or in rounds
½-1 cup Parmesan cheese—grated
1-2 Tbsp. fresh minced rosemary and thyme or dried—adjust accordingly
Smidgen of olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350⁰. Brush sides of zucchini with olive oil and place on foil-lined baking sheet. Mix cheese and herbs together in small bowl. Sprinkle on zucchini. Bake 15 minutes then place under broiler for another 3-5 minutes checking to make sure the cheese doesn’t burn.

Remove from oven and serve.

The BEST Glaze Class EVER !

I wanted to repost this announcement:

I am having a glaze class at The Bascom in Highland NC July 14-18, 2014. It is going to be a great class!  We have 14 so far but I want to get 16 or more because it is better to have more testers and more clay and glaze knowledge in the room!

Everyone will will testing three bases on three clay bodies in multiple firing (cone 05 , cone 6 reduction and oxidation and cone 10 reduction). To do this yourself would take about 2 months of sustained work and will will do it in a fun atmosphere with plenty of laughing!!  If you know of anyone who is interested please pass this on!

This is the last class of this kind I will be running this year so don't miss out!  It will make all your dreams come true.

Influential Imagery

Here's some of the pictures I was going through to prepare for my artist talk at Flow last week.  It was great to revisit these photos.  They give me so many ideas.  The Flow summer Artist talk series is pretty sweet.  Sangria, refreshments and an artist talking about their inspiration, process, aspirations.  Next month's talk features clothing designer Lisa Mandle on July 10, 6pm.

Let me know and maybe we can get together whomever wants to and get something started.
